Went to watch "White Noise" in TGV this evening. Well, it's a pretty 'o-kay' movie. I should say that the plot is quite similar with 'Sixth Sense'. I don't see it as a horror film at all. Well, to me it is mostly fall under the thriller/ suspend category. I'm not going to give any review on that movie.
Just one question. How do you categorised a movie whether it's in the horror or Thriller? Well, After a long 'debate' with James, I realise, what he said is true. Supernatural may falls under Horror, however, the central theme; plot, ambience, music, lighting all play a part in determining the genre of a movie or story. For example, Bewitched may have supernatural phenomena but the central theme emphasize on drama.
Well, that actually explain why I conclude White Noise as Thriller and not Horror. Though it has the supernatural phenomena (EVP) which is used as the plot, the story line are more on saving human lives which leads to suspends rather than horror. I don't see any part of the movie that will actually frighten anyone in the cinema. (Trust me, I watched it alone in the cinema.)
